All volunteers are certified by the IRS and re-certified by testing every year, including updates on the changes in the tax laws for both Federal and State returns;
The service of preparing your return(s) and e-filing them is completely free with the VITA program;
A volunteer preparer will review your tax documents and ask you questions to be sure you receive all of the credits you might qualify for;
We prepare both the Federal return and your state return;
The same, or second volunteer will prepare your individual or joint tax return, using the information you have provided as accurately as possible;
A second or possibly third volunteer, will review your completed return with you, answer questions you may have, print, and then, have you sign the return;
Your return will then be E-Filed; and
You will receive a printed paper copy of your completed return.
IF YOU PROVIDE US WITH AN EMAIL ADDRESS, WE WILL EMAIL YOU WHEN WE HAVE RECEIVED CONFIRMATION THAT YOUR FEDERAL AND STATE RETURNS HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED AFTER E-FILING. If there is any problem with your return(s) e-file, then we will contact you by telephone to discuss resolving any issue.
We also prepare up to three (3) past year returns.
We will also amend your last year's return, but we must have prepared the original return.
We rely entirely upon the information you provide for us to do your return, so please be sure to bring all of your necessary documents.
Your tax return is ultimately your responsibility, so any information provided on the return is considered as if you had prepared the tax return yourself. Please work closely with your preparers and reviewers to ensure that the return is correct.
